Writing Warmup:
O-chang Comics has a series of shows representing people in Maine with a number of different characters. In this episode the creators show "Donny the Grumpy Maine Dad" who expresses his feelings towards kids and power lines.
1)Who is the audience?
2) How would you describe Donny?
3)How does this relate to the way parents act?
1) The audience is most likely teenaged boys or younger men.
ReplyDelete2) Annoying and repetitive
3) This doesn't really relate to the way parents act.
Why do you think teenaged boys?
DeleteI think teenage boys would watch this because they get humor from these types of things.
DeleteCheyenne, what made you describe the dad as "annoying?"
DeleteI thought the dad was annoying because he said "evah" a lot.
Delete1) The audience is probably men from Maine.
ReplyDelete2) I would describe Donny as annoying, lazy, and mean.
3) This doesn't really relate to the way parents act.
I agree, I don't see a way this has a relation to the way parents act.
DeleteDo you think anyone else besides men from Maine would watch this?
DeletePaige, you also pointed out that the dad was "annoying" (like Cheyenne). What makes him annoying?
DeleteMaybe men from the New England area.
DeleteDonny wouldn't stop complaining.
DeleteDo you think that any random person could find this and think they where funny. Or do you think it is just something from Maine.
DeleteProbably just people from Maine.
DeleteI think that it is something from Maine because dads can relate to him.
Delete1) The audience is probably men from Maine because they find things like this funny.
ReplyDelete2) Donny is annoying and lazy.
3) This doesn't relate to how many parents act.
Why do you think men from Maine find things like these funny?
DeleteDoes this relate to dads, and how they act in their daily life?
DeleteBecause the video is of a man from Maine.
DeleteI think it could relate to some dads.
Do you think they would find it funny because they relate to these people?
Delete1. The audience is probably Mainers who like to laugh at sterotypes.
ReplyDelete2. Donny reminds me off my dad.
3. Donny is just like my dad when hes trying to straighten me out.

Your answer to #3 is interesting. What are some of the similarities you see between your dad and Donny?
DeleteThe accent and his appearance
DeleteHow would you describe Donny's accent? His appearance?
DeleteWhat about Donny reminded you of ur dad?
DeleteHis appearance and accent
Delete1) The audience is dads or guys from Maine because they can relate, and they think this kind of video is funny.
ReplyDelete2) I would describe Donny as very annoying, and is a typical dad who would sit in their chair in front of the TV and complain.
3) This video doesn't relate to the way moms act, except for dads because this is how dads in Maine act on a daily basis.
What is he complaining about?
DeleteI definitely agree with you on your second answer, most dads would sit in their chair in front of the chair and complain about anything and everything.
DeleteI didn't even understand what he was complaining about.
DeleteI think the complaining starts with down power lines (lines that might be active, but have broken or fallen due to a storm or weather). Ashlyn, do you know what a PSA (Public Service Announcement) is?
DeleteYes, a commercial that is meant to tell people a problem that has occurred, or a common safety so you know what to do.
Delete1) The audience is the viewers who are watching this video. Lots of people are intrigued by all of the Tempt Tail videos, so most would probably find this interesting.
ReplyDelete2) I would describe Donny in two words, repetitive and comedic.
3) It reminds me a lot of my dad since he works for the power company, and he is always saying to never touch the wires.
Who are the viewers?
DeleteWhat does he repeat?
DeleteThe viewers would probably be considered adolescents-teenaged men because it's so fascinating that there is such an "accent" from Maine, and tempt tails are super popular episodes.
DeleteHe repeats the word "evah" a lot to try and emphasize to not touch the power lines. A lot of Maine people add a hard "ah" to their words. Such as Mainah, losah, etc.
1. Anyone watching this video, mostly Mainers.
ReplyDelete2. I would describe him as someone who doesn't like kids friggin with the power lines and eating devil dogs before dinner.
3. It relates because parents don't want you eating junk food before dinner.
I would take that up with Donny
DeleteWhy would it be bad for kids to "frigg" around power lines?
Delete1. The audience is people that enjoy Temp Tails.
ReplyDelete2. Donny is the typical Maine dad with the accent and appearance he has.
3. This relates to the way parents act because they care about being safe but also sometimes get mad.
I agree sometimes parents come across as mad but are just trying to promote safety
DeleteWho would you say are people who enjoy temp tails
DeletePeople who have a good sense of humor and enjoy a good laugh even over a small comic.
