  1. 1. Cinderella is depicted today as the main Disney princess, and simplifies a young women doing household chores, but falls in love with Prince Charming. The big difference I saw between the Disney version and the Brothers Grill version of Cinderella is through the stepsisters. In both Brothers Grimm and the Disney version, they are seen as the enemies. Although, in the Disney version, once Cinderella is known as the rightful women, nothing happens to the stepsisters, except for they now have to do the chores themselves. This lesson taught the stepsisters how you don't know what you have until it's gone. However, in the Brothers Grimm version, they are punished by the singing birds, who then poke both eyes out of both sisters, making them blind for the rest of their lives. This punishment, in my opinion, doesn't really have any value to the story, except for maybe teaching the reader that good things happen to good people, and bad for the wicked.

    1. 2. One way Disney changed in the 1950's Disney version of the story is how the animals in the Grimm's tale pecks the stepsisters eye's out. In the 1950s Disney version, animals are seen as helpful and harmless. I believe this change was due to the creators thinking of the children, and wanting them to gain a love for animals, rather than a scary vision. Whenever a child sees a bird, the creators of the movie did not want that child to think that the bird would peck their eyes out.

  2. Cinderella is now known as one of Disney's main princess's. Like the brothers Grimm, in Disney's version, Cinderella is a princess but when her mother dies and father remarries she is forced by her evil stepmother to live more like a peasant. Cinderella was in charge of all the house work and throughout the beginning of both stories she is described as dirty and clothed in raggedy aprons and dresses. Another asset that makes the two versions of the fairytales alike is the well known evil stepsisters, but they are also what set the stories apart. In the Disney version when the prince finally finds out that shoe belongs to Cinderella the stepsisters only punishment is taking on the responsibilities of chores and watching Cinderella marry the prince, making the fairytale much more kid friendly. In the Brothers Grimm version one sister cuts her big toe off and the other cut part of her heel off in order to force their foot to fit into it. The prince actually falls the evil stepsisters trick until the singing birds sing one of their chants and he notices the blood gushing from their feet. When the prince finally realizes Cinderella is the owner of the shoe they marry and the singing birds pluck out the evil sisters eyes. This gory detail sets the two versions apart showing that Disney very commonly if not always appropriates traditional fairytales to make them more kid friendly and americanized.

  3. 2) What has Disney changed in one of the versions of this story?
Disney kept the original Cinderella somewhat the same, but he also changed some of the major parts. First, he made it more kid friendly and altered the gruesome scenes to more magical instead. For example, in the original fairytale of Cinderella, different parts of her foot are cut off so that the shoe doesn't fit her. This scene is completely removed from the Disney version. Lastly, in the 2015 version of Cinderella, it shows Cinderella's mom and describes her more than in the older fairytales. In the original fairytales, it only tells about her dying and Cinderella being left with her father and step-mother.

  4. 1. In the brothers grimm version the acts surrounding the stepsisters are much more gruesome such as cutting off pieces of their feet and having their eyes picked out at the end. The disney version is much more forgiving of the cruelness of the stepsisters.

    2. One major thing Disney changed was that in his version the relationship between the father and cinderella. In the Disney version the father treats his daughter greatly, while in the brothers Grimm version the father treats his own daughter like a slave.

  5. In Disney's 1950 version of "Cinderella" they use magic and songs to make a cheery tone. The creators made it so all the characters would have a somewhat happy ending, unlike in the Brothers Grimm version, where the wicked stepsisters were punished for being so cruel to Cinderella (her birds pecked their eyes out.) Also in the Brothers Grimm, when the sisters tried to fit their feet into Cinderella's shoe, they went as far as mutilating their feet so they would fit, whereas in the Disney version, the shoes just didn't fit them and that was that. Disney's version of "Cinderella" is very child appropriate and cheery while the Brothers Grimm version of "Cinderella" is quite violent and would probably scare many children.

  6. 2. Disney's 1950 version of "Cinderella" and the Brothers Grimm version were alike in plot, but different in manner and details. For example, there is no violence or blood in Disney's, but instead singing, happiness, and magic. On the other hand, there is the Brothers Grimm version consisting of the stepsisters cutting off parts of their feet and birds pecking out their eyes.

  7. 2. The 1950s Disney "Cinderella" and the Brothers Grimm versions are different in many ways. However, what stood out the most to me is how there is a major change in the audience the stories are aimed towards. Just like in many Disney films, the Cinderella story was changed from being aimed towards adults, to much more family oriented. The original version by Brothers Grimm was very gory in parts and Disney was able to change those parts to be much less gruesome, but convey the same message.

  8. The Brothers Grimm version of "Cinderella" is essentially gruesome compared to the Disney's 1950 version of "Cinderella". Disney created Cinderella to be more positive and a more trilling personality along with the animals around. Disney played it safe with the consequences of the evil stepmother and stepsisters and the two doves. The doves assisted in Cinderella's justice by plucking out the sister's eyeballs out towards the end. However, the idea that those women overworked Cinderella and treated her unkindly was the idea that came from both versions

  9. 2. What has Disney changed in one of the versions of this story?
Disney had taken the original Cinderella story and kept it the same. However, a few alterations to the major plot had been made. Firstly, Disney made the story more kid friendly and changed some of the more gruesome scenes to a some that are light and and magical for a younger audience. For example, in the original fairytale of Cinderella, the sisters cut off parts of their feet in the shoes that obviously don't fit, to fit. This concept is removed from the Disney version. Also, in the 2015 Disney adaptation of Cinderella, Cinderella's mom is present and plays a more substantial role than in the older fairytales. In the original fairytales, her mother is only said to have died and leaving Cinderella with her father and wicked step-mother.

  10. 2.Everyone that knows Disney Knows that when someone thinks about Disney Princess they think Cinderella. They think magic,a ball and happily ever after. The disney version is more magic and child-friendly and I would assume more preferable by parents. Then there's Brother's Grimm is all gruesome and blood basically the opposite of disney's..One really big thing they changes is that instead of having the "magic" tree she has a fairy godmother.Another thing that the disney version changed is that none of the sisters do anything drastic to fit into the shoe (body parts are kept attached) and at the end of the show the stepsisters keep there eyes. The disney version also changed when it came to the bids singing to the prince about the bloody feet and telling the prince the shoe doesn't actually fit the sister.Another major difference is that the dad passes away in the disney version and he's alive in the brothers Grimm version.
