Bell Ringer Activity:
For today's class, we will be doing a Kahoot practice exercise on Apostrophes! Please go to https://kahoot.it/#/ and type in the game code I put on the board. This is a timed game, so be sure to answer as soon as you know the answer. But, be wary of just "clicking" on a box, because you won't have a second chance to supply the right answer!
Good luck and may the best Kahooter win!
I got some wrong because some were just difficult to read from in the back of the classroom. Sometimes I just read them to fast and with "its not you, its me" I wasn't thinking about possessive so I went with it's and it's. I can't remember what I got right.
ReplyDeleteI did get the editor-in-chiefs right. It was possessive, you were going to his house (if I read it right) so it would be editor-in-chief's house
DeleteI don't know how to use apostrophes very well and I can't think very fast. I only got one right, because when it and is is combines it makes it's.
ReplyDeleteI got one of the questions wrong because I forgot about contractions (making two words into one) and I was going to fast. I also forgot about the children's one. I got the it's and its right because one was possessive and one of the its wasn't.
ReplyDeleteOne question i got wrong was a question with its and i clicked its's instead od it's and one i got right was seamstresses and i was the only one, I guessed this question because it wasn't possessive but it was plural.
ReplyDeleteI got most of them wrong because I was going too fast and either didn't read the sentence the right way or clicked the wrong answer. I got the seamstress sentence wrong because I thought it was plural with an apostrophe but it was just seamstresses.
ReplyDeleteI got the seamstress question wrong because I answered seamstress's instead of seamstresses. I realized it was seamstresses because the seamstresses don't own anything in the sentence, "es" is plural for something.
ReplyDeleteI got the plural one wrong because I was thinking that it was plural AND possessive which it wasn't. I got the "Its not you its me" wrong because I didn't understand the rule there. But I did get the majority of just possessive ones right like the first one where the word "its" is used, "its" is a contraction of the two words "it is."
ReplyDelete"it's" *
DeleteI got one of my answers wrong because I put an apostrophe s on a word instead of putting an es on the word. I thought I had to put the apostrophe s but it wasn't a name so I got it wrong.
ReplyDeleteI got the first three questions right, but I got the last two wrong. The first one I got wrong it was because it was plural so I thought it would be "seamstress' " but it wasn't possessive so it would be "seamstresses" with no apostrophe. The first one I got right was because I understood that it was possessive. So it would be "editor-in-chief's house" because the house belongs to the editor-in-chief.
ReplyDeleteOne I got wrong was the seamstress because I didn't read the question throughly, so I put the apostrophe after the s instead of adding es. The one I got right, was the last one with the it's its because it is sounded right and the second part sounded right.
ReplyDeleteI got the first question wrong because in my opinion it was not worded correctly. I also felt rushed and clicked too fast without giving it a lot of thought. I also know that the "'s" is needed when it is possessive. I got the It's and Its one correct because I know that "It's" is saying It is. While "Its" is for the possessive.
ReplyDeleteThe answers that I got wrong was because I was more concerned with time than I was anything else. The ones that I got right I thought about I was able to get them right. In the question of "It's not you its me" I got wrong because I put both of the its with apostrophes, instead of thinking about the rule for contractions.
ReplyDeleteA question I got right was the children's names, because the names don't own anything, the reason being is cause of the apostrophe rule. One that I got wrong was a question using it and it's because I thought it would be it is me not its me.
ReplyDeleteI was going too fast and couldn't really see the board so I just clicked on one. I understand the rules about apostrophes. Apostrophes are a punctuation mark used to show possession.
ReplyDeleteOne question I got right was It's, its because it's was the short version for it is and works perfectly for the sentence "it's not you, its me". This question is the example of the contractions rule.
ReplyDeleteOne question I got wrong was the seamstress questions because I forgot that apostrophes are not plural.
