9/10 English Writing Warmup: New Learning in Quarter 1

Writing Reflection:
For those of you who are finished with your test and have responded to the discussion questions on your book, take some time to reflect on what you have learned in quarter 1.  In the comments section below, describe what you believe is your biggest area of improvement in your reading, writing, and speaking.  Be sure to be specific and reference specific learning targets (RL1, RL2, L2).

Bonus: what would you like to learn in quarter 2?

  3. In quarter one I learned how to use apostrophes, and colons correctly, I also learned more into how how the standards work. My biggest area of improvement would have to be my understanding of apostrophes, at the beginning of the year I had no idea how to use them. I believe that I've become better, and by the end of the year I'll be a real pro.

  5. I believe that my greatest improvement in English class so far is punctuation use and analyses of theme. Specifically learning targets RL2 and L2. I feel I am now able to look at evidence from the book and use that to create a theme. I also feel I am able to use correct punctuation to create great writing.

    1. What I want to focus on in quarter two is more punctuation use. Because sometimes commas are difficult.

  6. My biggest improvement in quarter 1 has been theme in RL2. This quarter I have learned how to analyze the theme of a book. Also I liked re-learning cursive. I could already write in cursive but I was happy to start using it again.

  8. I think I've learned a lot about how to use colons and apostrophes in quarter one. For example putting colons after the following and using apostrophes for singular and plural words. I want to learn more about punctuation.

  9. On North Haven we didn't do much with theme, citation sandwiches, apostrophes, or commas. So in quarter 1 I have learned a lot. I have learned where to use apostrophes and commas correctly. I have learned how to make a citation sandwich. I have also learned how to find and write about a theme! I find that pretty awesome. I look forward to whatever comes next! Something I would want to work on is public speaking. I don't like it at all! I actually hate it a lot. Maybe I can learn how to be confident public speaking in the future.

  13. I have learned a lot of things this quarter but I believe most of my strength was on RL1. Since we've worked on supporting our ideas, my mind has expanded on learning to ways to explain things more thoroughly.
