AP English Writing Warmup: How Do You Like to Receive Feedback? (9/21/16)

Bell Ringer Activity:
For today's class, I'd like you to think about the way you like to receive feedback on your writing.  Please describe how you like to receive feedback in the comments box below.

  1. Something via electronics, like an email.

  2. When i get feedback i like to have honest critique of my work as long as its constructive, and I like to be able to discuss the things that need to be changed so that way i know what I need to do differently. The format of the feedback isn't really important as long as its clear.

  3. I would like to receive the paper back with corrections and suggestions on how i can improve with the score somewhere on the paper.

  4. Giving a teacher a copy of my work and having them make marks on it is the easiest way for me to receive feedback. It then helps me if I get to meet with the teacher so we can go over the work together.

  5. I like receiving feedback by helpful ideas on how to make my writing stronger and help it flow better. I prefer meeting one on one with Dr. Brigman a lot more than peer editing because I always feel like Dr. Brigman strengthens the structure of my paper, but also lets me figure out what to say so it is still my own work.

  6. Personally, I am pretty flexible with feedback. I like comments on the side that tell me what I did and and what I can do to correct it. I also like corrections if I make a grammar mistake. A copy of the paper with notes and feedback on the sides is most helpful to me.

  7. I am not picky with feedback because I am not easily upset. As long as the feedback is constructive I will be fine making changes to my work.

  8. Honest feedback is important so I know what what others think of my writing. Hearing what peers have to say about my writing helps me improve by getting a different perspective from people my age. I also like getting feedback from teachers so I can see my mistakes and strengths visually.

  9. I like getting feedback on my writing so I can constantly improve it. Some of the ways I like getting feedback are:
    a) First, knowing what I did well or alright on so I don't get overwhelmed with trying to improve my writing too much.
    b) Then, I like seeing the little mistakes that I made which only take a second to fix so everything can look well put together.
    c) Lastly, I like maybe larger ideas or suggestions to make my paper stronger and more structured.
