Writing Warmup: The Hobbit (9/29/16)

As we watch The Hobbit, "live respond" with similarities and differences between the book and the movie.

  6. In the book they never say anything about staying up on a high ridge like in the movie....They didn't say anything about the noise coming from down below the ridge.. They never said anything about thorn cutting off orc kings arm off..

  11. The trolls say "Mutton yesterday, mutton today, and blimey, if it don't look like mutton again tomorrer," (33). One of the trolls is complaining about eating mutton all the time.
    Mutton: the flesh of a mature sheep used as food.

  12. Tolkien says " Three very large persons sitting around a very large fire of beech logs.
    They were toasting mutton on long spits of wood,and licking the gravy off there fingers" (33) in the were careening horses but in the book they didn't.

  13. The troll says (35) "what d'yer mean?'' said bert, holding him right way up, by the hair this time. I never saw this park in the movie of him grabbing him by his hair. another thing I notice was that there was horse's in the movie but no horse's in the book.
